Labour Process

Firstly I would like to express my thanks to all mums going through the tough labour process. Having said that, I knew it was never easy and indeed, going through it is definitely tough and also Im taken off back if people tells me they are going without any form of painkillers like Epidural and etc... You guys are just great!

Here's my labour process.

18th Aug, 12.20pm - Went for Gynae check up, Cervix not open yet and Baby is at 3.2kg.
18th Aug, 12.35pm - Gynae insert pills, decided to go for induce labour.
18th Aug, 01.00pm - Waiting to do CTG and inform close family & friends.
18th Aug, 01.30pm - Spotting was seen, Alex need to go back office and get his stuffs.
18th Aug, 02.30pm - Reach home, rest and went out at 2.45pm to go Alex office
18th Aug, 04.35pm - Left the office, did last minute shopping, got my Coconut drink.
18th Aug, 06.00pm - Dinner, double checked my maternity bag, got Alex to pack.
18th Aug, 07.00pm - Had the longest shower ever in my life. Did hair treatment.
18th Aug, 08.00pm - Got Alex to grab 2 packets of chips for me and finish before I get to the hospital.
18th Aug, 09.30pm - Drove slowly to TMC for Admission, experiencing contractions every now & then.
18th Aug, 10.30pm - Reach hospital, check in and was bought to Chancery Suite because no wards are available.

19th Aug, 12.00am - Dr Ang came and check my cervix, for the past 12 hours, it only dilate less than 1cm. Put in stronger pill.
19th Aug, 03.00am - Nurse came in every 1/2 hour to check baby's heartbeat and blood pressure.
19th Aug, 05.00am - Couldn't sleep. Nervous. BP shot up to 160.
19th Aug, 07.00am - Breakfast
19th Aug, 08.00am - Got ready to go to the Labour Ward and change to be prepare for labour
19th Aug, 08.30am - Dr Ang came, check cervix and shocked, because it didn't dilate more than 0.5cm.
19th Aug, 08.35am - Put on drip to monitor
19th Aug, 09.00am - 1st round of strong contraction came.
19th Aug, 09.05am - Contraction at every 5 minutes interval.
19th Aug, 10.30am - Couldn't take the pain anymore. Ask for laughing gas.
19th Aug, 11.00am - Reuqest for Epidural consent form. Called my mum and she objected.
19th Aug, 11.30am - Spoke to Dr Ang. If by 2pm, the dilation went to 5cm, he will gave me Epidural, if not, C-sect. And if I take Epidural now, and the dilation was less than 5cm by 2pm, I will still need to go for C-sect and the cost of the Epidural I took would go down to waste. Decide to wait and rely on laughing gas.

THAT WAS THE WORST 2 HOURS PLUS I EVER BEEN THROUGH.

19th Aug, 01.15pm - Dr Ang came, checked and shocked. For the past 24 hours, my cervix only dilate 2cm. He offered 2 choices for me. ONE, put Epidural and go for natural birth but it will be a long labour and by 12 midnight if my cervix can't dilate to 8cm, I would need to go for C-sect. TWO. Go for C-sect. Everything will be done within half an hour.
19th Aug, 01.30pm - Called my mum and told her the situation. I couldn't take the pain and decided to opt for C-sect however I have the choice to go through spinal anesthesia where my husband can go in and see the whole process or I will be put under general anesthesia where I can sleep all the way through. Mum against anything injected at the back thus my dearest boy decided to put me under G.A.
19th Aug, 02.25pm - Put into the operating theater and was knocked out within 4 counts of sheep.
19th Aug, 02.40pm - Princess is born!
